UrT 4.2 release [IMPORTANT]
Ok once again if you don't follow the official forums you anen't probably aware 4.2 will be released on August 3

4.2 IS NOT HD, but an update of 4.1.1, here are the news and my opinions about this release
And let's go on the most important points

4.2 IS NOT HD, but an update of 4.1.1, here are the news and my opinions about this release
- New gametype called Last Man Standing, basically FFA without respawn
- Updated maps, like what happened with 4.1 -> 4.1.1
- Many bugs fixed and stuff, see spoiler

• fixed breathing sound when the game is paused.
• stamina regeneration frozen when the game is paused.
• fixed hotpotato time after a pause.
• sr8 drop exploit fixed.
• voting rcon exploit fixed.
• weapon reloading/switching bug fixed.
• going on a ladder with an armed nade will now put the pin back in.
• enable booting when bomb is held.
• no throwing of last knife.
• fixed g_teamautojoin when going to spectator.
• callvote kick/clientkick now enforces a reason as an additional argument.
• reload button to cycle backwards in spectator mode.
• fix for the master servers.
• locked r_intensity, cg_physics and r_smp.
• demo automatically starts recording when joining a game that has already started (with g_matchmode 1 and cg_autoRecordMatch 1).
• you can "steal" the captain status when his connection is interrupted.
• when a team mate requests a medic his name flashes on the mini scoreboard.
• demo stops recording at the end of a map (with g_matchmode 1 and cg_autoRecordMatch 1).
• added cg_drawKillLog 0/1/2 (0 = no kill log ; 1 = old log like in 4.1 ; 2 = new log: player 1 [Weapon] player 2).
• added g_ctfUnsubWait, if set to 1 someone who unsub in wave CTF mode will wait the next wave to spawn.
• added /rcon smite <player> command, instantly kill a player.
• added /forcesub command (for captains in match mode), force a player of our team to become a substitute.
• added g_allowChat 3 - allow only the captains to talk during a match (only when both teams are ready).
• added cg_demoFov, it allows to change the fov from 70 to 140 when watching a demo.
• updated the UI.
• updated the cfg files.
• fixed team mate healbar with short names (eg. a dot).
• callvotes are now logged in the server logs.
• fixed ligthing on ut4_casa.
• selective weapon/item pickup (+button7) (see README-cg_autoPickup).
• increased the maximum number of demos.
• fixed weapon selection bug where the last weapon chosen was disappearing when selecting a team.
• fixed map arrows size on big maps.
• fixed the hands when holding a G36.
• now draw the name of the guy who planted the bomb.
• the SPAS has now 8 bullets instead of 6.
- New hit detection, this means the hit boxes have been remade to fit better the player model, the sr8 shouldn't longer miss shots at very close range due to its model piercing the opponent, the testers of 4.2 in Paris lan didn't complain about this new system
- Updated animations
And let's go on the most important points
- First is the AUTH SYSTEM
When you'll start urt or join a server you will need to login with your forum's nickname and pw (if you aren't registered to www.urbanterror.info do it now)
Imho this is a great implemention, because
1) No more fakers (unless they steal your account, get a decent password)
2) Once you ban a guy, he is banned, deleting qkey and changing IP won't help him, the only is to register again to the forums and it can be a pain in the ass, especially because FS should be able to block multiple accounts
3) No more aliasing allowed, except for the aliases you actually register on urt.info (1 nickname + max 3 aliases)
4) Clan tag protection, also the clan is registered to the site
Conclusions: cheaters will have hard times, jerks will probably start thinking twice before risking a ban, less idiots around
There are no negative points imo, this is a very welcome news - Indroduction of an auto updater
As many other nowadays games also UrT will get its autoupdater, gotta say I HATE auto updates: when I start urt is because I just want to play, not downloading patches over patches and wait for it to install
Yet there is something good in this as well:
FS will be able to provide essential updates in short times, not the 3-4 years which passed between 4.1 and 4.1.1; so they can easly fix maps bugs, animations, exploits, server binaries etc
Also there is the possibility they make anti-cheats updates, I don't mean they release the anti-cheat in progress for HD, but some way to detect cheaters before they join or block their hacks. Since most of cheaters aren't programmers but just kids who downloaded it, they will hardly get updates
I repeat, it's just a possibility, both cheats and anti-cheats are always in evolution, like the day someone discovered particular ports mean hack installed.
Overall it looks promising, let's hope for the best

It's the same game, same engine, actual cheats won't stop working if a targeted update isn't released

Animations been changed.
Ps quotin Barbatos in french, translating is just too mainstream lately : "Les animations ont beaucoup changé depuis la LAN, grâce aux suggestions des joueurs"
"Btw, les cheats de la 4.1 ne fonctionnent pas sur la 4.2 et seront de nouveau cassés à chaque update que l'on fera avec l'auto updater. Si ça peut - un peu - te consoler."

Why are you still playing this game then, 4.2 is far better than 4.1.1, I really don't see the reason of this hate, did you contribute to anything? No, so you can't pretend them to make your perfect game in 1 day (for free)
UrT is better than many 50€ shits out there, And trust me when I say there are more cheaters in Battlefield 3 than urt (not just because BF has millions of players, I'm talking of percentage, it has been proved in 90% of servers there is at least 1 cheater, and BF has no fckin spectator mode (once again, 70€ game? pfff), so your only way to ban is looking if the ratio is too high, that's great, isn't it?)

im on markinho's side ...this couldnt be better, except animations i saw it too ..i hope its gonna change. im thrilled about this Last Man Standing *_* ..so its a same thing like TS but in FFA mode?

Markinho UrT older versions are better than 4.2, thats it. Gameplay is starting to get worse with barbie animation and some other shits. And I don't play on pubs anymore.
4 years to do an update? with so many recruits .. I know they have they life but cmon. Where's the competition on these long years? I'm here crying with the animations I hope they changed it at least a little
One more thing, what's the best thing they did with this update? For me was only the register thing and still no damn anti cheat system.

I think the update will be good and welcome, with new games like Crysis, Battlefield, COD and such being released it needs to update it's graphics and it's system to keep being played.
BUT, and it's a big but, there isn't too much wrong with 4.1 so it would just be better if they focus on UrT HD instead of deviating and releasing this kind of stuff

I gave a little false news, reading urt.ft (yea, hard to believe) I noticed they removed the alias system due to many conflicts, the nickname you register on urt.info will be the only one to use ingame

The RH group on urt.info has 3 tags, you should be able to use -=RH=-, -=RHA=- and -=RHB=-
Also, I think aliasing will be possible, but when you connect it will be shown in the infos your passport nick and ID, admins will have a special command to see that anytime

B3 will work the same, it just parses RCon commands and uses console_tell. SO unless they change the server executable to not have both of those things (they won't), then it'll be all fine. Any game that uses RCon and console_tell works, so COD, bla, as they are all on the Quake3 engine, but I bet you some plugins won't work.
