IRC Chat - What you need to know

I'm just giving a short tut for everybody who isn't on irc yet:

you can register an account, then auth (= login) every time you connect to IRC. A bot on the chat called Q-Bot then gives out special rights to each of the registered users. The possible rights are Operator (kind of admin) with the symbol @ (@Xesya). Another group is voice, that's what all of the clan members will recieve with the symbol + (+Xesya).

To register connect to the channel and type in /msg Q HELLO mye-mail@myhost.com mye-mail@myhost.com (email twice!)
You should connect using the nickname you want to have as account-name. Check your e-mails for pass.

Now you can login by using /auth name password (e.g. /auth Xesya 1234). As soon as you're logged in it is recommended to change your password, as the default one is hard to remember.

To change the password type in /msg Q@CServe.quakenet.org NEWPASS oldpassword newpassword newpassword (e.g. /msg Q@CServe.quakenet.org NEWPASS 1234 mypass mypass). Now you can use the new password to login.
Check the e-mail to see which commands you are able to use, like:
/nick Xesya=> Changes nick to Xesya
/join #channel => join a channel (e.g. /join #RH)


Many people use a 'something' called mIRC, which you can download HERE!
That link contains mIRC and a crack, in order to download it you need a torrent or similar.
Your nickname will be used everytime you connect on a server.
You can save favourite servers and some other things.

You can also automatically auth everytime you log in a channel by doing these steps:

- Run mirc, open the "Tools menu" and click "Options".
- Go to "Connect" -> "Options page", click "Perform"
- Make sure "Enable perform on connect" is turned on.
- Go to "Network list", choose QuakeNet (if it's not there, add it by clicking "Add", you'll see a list).
- Type the auth command in the text box. (/auth nickname password)
- Click "OK" twice and you are ready. You should now automatically get authed in Q now.

Favourite servers and everything works exactly like mIRC.

How to configure it:

Install & Start xChat



You should be asked which server/network to connect to. Click on +Add


Name the server for example quake or whatever you like and favor it.


Click on only show favourites to hide all the other networks


Now edit the newly created network (click edit)


Add the following (+Add) on serverlist: irc.quakenet.org/6667


Enter favourite channels the programm should atomatically connect to (e.g. #RH)


You can also enter a command that should be executed on joining the server. Type /auth Name Password.


Click close


Check at list of networks, if it's saying: "no list of networks on starting"


Click connect



You should now automatically connect to the channels chosen and get authed in Q when you connect.

After 90 days of not using your acc it will be deleted.

It's necessary to be as much as possible on irc, if we wanna get the bot, so try being around there as much as possible, please.
Once we got z0rbot i'll show you some other tips 'n' tricks!

if you use the icon in the front page, you don't need to register and to dl mIrc, you just have to set a nick and press 'join'

It's simply the fact that they need 10+ people there when the z0rbot operator joins. He doesn't see 10, he leaves and rejects the application.

But I have no way of knowing when he will come, last time it was 3 days or so, this time 2 + weeks

Yes, just asked my cousin he said something bout 10 ppl 24/7, so we can try sending a new request in 2 weeks?

EDIT: I'm trying to get more ppl there now, do the same guys, but as there'll be more strangers, try not to talk about clan-intern stuff there, use query...

nah u dont need to, just login with your name and type /nick xxx.
If u use one of the programms i told u, type it in the text box.

Another denial from z0rbot, who's admin came at 09:55 this morning.

However, pengbot is up & running, but it quit earlier for some reason so I would still like z0rbot -.-

But it has shown it works ok, apart from that SC had 3 different teams under different tags in there

Nah + doesnt give you rights for bots..
@ is necessary, I suggest to give all clanmembers operator rights on the channel, so everybody can use the bot for PCW's.

i still don't know what that z0rbot is and i why you want it .. :<

a bot which is needed to organize pcw in 5 mins.

With the bots you can send a request to all channels with zorbot/pengbot; see the last 10 requests made and one or two things more. I knew the commands but don't remember now and it's easy to make use of it

Since you can't log in to Q with webchat anymore, this thread is now a post-it. I Wonder why it wasn't already ...
